IUE professor elected to the international board
Prof. Dr. Deniz Hasırcı from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) was elected to the editorial board of the digital platform, "IFI Insite", established by the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers, which has been conducting worldwide studies since 1963. Prof. Dr. Hasırcı is the only professor from Turkey to enter the board consisting of 21 people from different countries.
Prof. Dr. Deniz Hasırcı, Faculty Member of IUE Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, will share her views on many issues such as practices in interior architecture, the perception of the profession in society, education methods for students and how to plan for the future. Prof. Dr. Hasırcı, who was invited to the editorial board by the Federation, will represent Turkey in the international arena. IUE Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, has been the third member of the federation in Turkey in 2016, and became the first member university in the Aegean. Moreover, Izmir is the first and only city in our country to sign the IFI declaration with the contributions of the department and the joint work with the Chamber of Interior Architects.
HUMAN-ORIENTED DESIGNS
Noting that the time spent indoors has increased with the Covid-19 outbreak, Prof. Dr. Hasırcı said that the transformation in interior spaces and the physical, social, and cultural ties between user and space need new definitions. Stating that this situation will always keep interior architecture on the agenda, Prof. Dr. Hasırcı also gave information about the work they will do through ‘IFI Insite’. Prof. Dr. Hasırcı said, “Approaches such as human-oriented, natural, and sustainable design are issues that are common and on the agenda worldwide. Professional practices, recognition and boundaries are also among the common topics of interior designers. We will exchange information and have professional discussions with colleagues in different countries through ‘IFI Insite’. We aim to increase awareness on interior architecture. It has been an honor for me to take part in such an important development. I am happy to be able to convey my views and works we have done in the field of interior architecture in our country on the international platform.”
