GOOD DESIGN İZMİR WORKSHOP / UNLOCKING THE REALMS OF VIRTUALITY AND REALITY: RE-THINK, RE-ACT, RE-CALL
The workshop promises to be a compelling exploration of design's role in reconciliation, through the realms of virtuality and reality. This three-day workshop dives into the profound concept of reconciliation by examining how space can act as a passage between the realms of virtuality and reality. At its core, this workshop poses questions about what real is, what virtual is, where the boundary is between these two realms, or if there is any boundary at all. The process of the workshop is structured around concepts of RE-THINK, RE-ACT, and RE-CALL. The first phase, RE-THINK, aims to understand the foundations of reality and virtuality. It inspires the participants to generate a new dialogue and they are introduced to VR technologies and tools. The second phase, RE-ACT, calls to action of building the passage between realms: virtuality and reality. Participants are given a physical/real corridor and asked to design a virtual space according to the five steps of reconciliation: confrontation, dialogue, mediation, repair, and harmony. The third and final phase, RE-CALL, invites the individuals to experience the designed virtual spaces in the given physical/real corridor. The participants wear VR glasses and walk through the corridor. The workshop is concluded with a digital exhibition including the recorded experience.
