Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental DesignA collaborative project between IUE Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students and the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has sparked a social transformation in the Pazaryeri neighborhood. Redesigned based on the needs of local residents and children, the 944 Dead-End has been transformed into a brand-new "Play Street" and is now ready to open its doors.
Organized by the TÜBİTAK Science and Society Directorate, the “TÜBİTAK Science Centers Exhibition Design Competition” aims to encourage university students (undergraduate and graduate) to develop innovative exhibition solutions that transform scientific concepts into interactive and tangible experiences.
Additionally, the competition seeks to promote an interdisciplinary work culture and to provide science centers with unique, practical exhibition units.
Participants are expected to design a comprehensive exhibition layout consisting of at least 1 and no more than 5 exhibition units within a 50 m² space.
Under the coordination of the Ministry of Trade, in cooperation with the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), and organized by the Central Anatolian Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters’ Association with the support of your Institution, the award ceremony for the “Exporters’ Associations – 17th National Furniture Design Competition” is scheduled to take place in September 2026. The competition aims to contribute to the advancement of the furniture sector and highlight the strategic importance of design for the industry.
Organized by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, the “Urban Booth Design” and “Virtual Interior Spaces” workshops brought students together with contemporary design practices and technologies. Participants received their certificates at the closing session.
On Friday, May 16th, we would be happy to see you among us at the IFI World Interiors Day celebrations organized by IUE IAED department. We are ending the celebrations we organized during the 24-25 spring semester with various workshops, student-graduate meeting and cocktail.
Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department hosted interior architect Erol Emre Oktar who led a workshop on seismic-safe interior design. Students developed prototypes addressing furniture anchoring, flexible layouts, and escape route planning.
Students from the Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and Industrial Design at Izmir University of Economics visited the Antalya Free Zone shipyards on March 15–16 as part of the IA 302 studio course. During the trip, they toured the shipyard facilities, the Antalya Underwater Museum, and the Antalya Archaeological Museum.
