I am a Prototype, 2018-19

In the fall semester of 2018-2019, Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, 3rd Year Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department and Industrial Design Department students produced furniture collection ‘’I am a Prototype’’within the scope of Furniture Design course. It was exhibited in Modeko Izmir Furniture Fair from 6th to 10th of March. Students, as they do every year, also participated in the exhibition with the works they designed and produced in the DmakerLab workshop of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. In the course, students learmed about the theory and methodology of design and they are expected to learn by producing, besides the wooden material, different materials and local cultural elements are synthesized.

The exhibition was visited by the President of the Board of Trustees of Izmir University of Economics and the President of the Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Mahmut Özgener, and the future projects were discussed with the students.  The opening of the exhibition was held with the participation of Dean of Fine Arts and Design Faculty, Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Head of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Asst. Prof. Dr. Markus Wilsing and Head of Industrial Design Department Asst. Prof. Dr. A. Can Özcan.

A Collaborative Work by Turk and Japan Design Students, 2018-19

Turk and Japan design students designed a student house in Yeşilova Mound within the scope of a workshop hosted by IUE. 11 Turk students from Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department, IUE and 9 Japan students from Architecture Department, Chiba University exhibited their joint works at the end of the project. Japan students, aside from professional training, were introduced both vernacular architecture and contemporary structures in Izmir in technical visits to Ephesus and Kemeraltı together with Yeşilova Mound. They also visited Izmir Branch of Chamber of Interior Architects.

We would like to thank Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Hasırcı for organizing the event and Prof. Dr. Kaname Yanagisawa for his contributions to the organization. Also many thanks to participants Sinem Azak, Ikumi Arai, Sinem Azak, Damla Başkan, Oğul Görgülü, Ayaka Hosoya, Elif Karakuş, Marie Kitano, Cemre Kizir, Shoki Kobayashi, Hazuki Misawa, Shinya Morishima, Hideki Nara,  Melis Sena Özbaş, Yui Saito, Yusuf Ogün Sarıca, Ryosuke Sato, Ali Rıza Sivas, Arda Turgut and Habibe Ulutaş.

21. Construction Fair - Turkeybuild İzmir, 2014-2015

Yapı-Turkey Built Fair 2015 that is important organisation of YEM  and most of building, material and construction firms come together, was realized in Fuar Izmir on October 5 to 8. Izmir Universty of Economics shared the student project made by Architecture and Interior Architecture and Environmental Design students with the treaters. A small student group comprised of Aslıhan DOYMAZ, Ertunç HÜNKAR, Melisa ÇAKIROĞLU, Fevziye TEMELLİ, Ece KÜRELİ, Özben Nilsu SERDAROĞLU, İlayda Su UÇ, Kıymet BULUT, Deniz Nur ÇOLAK, Yasin ÖZESEN, Zeynep SERTER, Şüheda KEÇECİ, Cansu SARIÖZKAN and Gizem YILDIRIM introduced the model projects under the guidance of Seren BORVALI and Burkay PASİN. Highly praised projects helped to especially stundets to decide to new collage and  profession. Objects of curiosity were used materials, the content of the design process and project posts. During the quite intense and successful  4 days, the interest of university was pretty much.  

Doors Exhibition, 2013-2014

The "Doors" Exhibition to which we as a department have contributed was opened on 20 June 2014 at Agora Shopping Mall,

This event was planned and organized by the Chamber of Interior Architects, İzmir Branch and our students have designed conceptual doors that signify the "interior". There were several great submissions from our department, and we are proud to share with you that one of them designed by our former students/new graduates Merve Çelebi and Seba Acar was selected to be built in real life scale.

IZFAS Boat Show (Boat-Yacht and Marine Fair), 2012-2013

The projects of the students of Yacht Design Graduate Program, which is being offered in Turkey for the first time at Izmir University of Economics, Graduate School of Social Sciences, were displayed at IZFAS Boat Show (Boat-Yacht and Marine Fair).

The students are designing projects such as catamaran, sailboat, and motor yachts at Yacht Design Graduate Program, which is being offered to meet the design needs of Turkey who is among the top three in luxurious yacht production sector worldwide. Students’ exhibition attracted great attention throughout the fair. Students get a chance to design their dream boats in the Project studio alongside the theoretical courses for 3 semesters.  

The students made interior designs of many boats up until today at the Yacht Design Graduate Program lectured by Asst. Prof. Dr. Emre Ergül, Asst. Prof. Dr. Markus Wilsing, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Can Özcan, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tolga Benli, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Demirbaş, and part-time lecturers Prof.Dr. Mustafa İnsel and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gökdeniz Neşer.

Artist Interior Architects Exhibition, 2013-2014

Artist Interior Architects Exhibition that was organized by the Chamber of Interior Architects, İzmir Branch was opened to view on 3rd of January in İzmir Tarihi Havagazı Farikası Kültür Merkezi with the contributions of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality. Paintings and photography of Interior Architects who continues their proffessional life in various different projects and fields were exhibited until 14 January 2013.
