| Course Objectives | The course aims to introduce the history of the moving image in Türkiye from the late Ottoman Empire up until today, and examine how the public and private spaces within these films are used to develop each narrative. The architecture and interior architecture of Turkiye will be analysed by students through these important historic records of the 20th century. There is an emphasis on the history of the Yeşilcam film making and film distribution company. This course makes students familiar with the most important concepts, objects and figures of this history to present a critical approach to the study of Turkish culture. The course also discusses how space is also designed and manipulated by the film designers. |
